What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a deeply relaxing, Holistic treatment suitable for all ages to treat the body, mind and spirit as a whole. Pressure is applied through massage to areas on the hands or feet, believed to relate to specific areas of the body, in order to encourage and restore the body’s natural emotional and physical balance by allowing deposits or blockages within the body to be reduced or removed. Reflexology is most effective when given as a short course of treatments (6 weekly treatments) then a top up treatment once every 4 to 6 weeks thereafter.
How does Reflexology Work?
The idea is that energy points in the feet or hands are revitalized through stimulating the reflex points which relieves tension elsewhere in the body, helping to minimise and ward off pain, discomfort and illness. Working and massaging congested or crunchy points found in the feet or hands can help release tension and pain in the corresponding point in the body which can help rebalance you. This works not only on a physical level but also emotional too. This therapy has been practiced for 100s of years throughout Chinese and Egyptian history and is very powerful.
After A Reflexology Session
Reflexology gets the circulation going again and increases the nerve supply to all organs. This creates a balancing effect (or "homeostasis") that restores the body's equilibrium.
People sometimes feel nauseous and get headaches after a session, this is because reflexology often stimulates the body to release stored toxins. Make sure that you drink lots of water after the treatment to help your kidneys flush out the waste products and speed up the healing process.
